These two short fanfares for solo trumpet arose from an innovative scheme in Barga, Italy, where small pieces of art were to be hidden in the town. I decided to add two short fanfares for trumpet in miniature manuscript form. Barga is set in the mountains of the Garfagnana region, and there is a magnificent view from the duomo, set above the old town. The prescription for these fanfares was to play them at sunset from the duomo, with the sound echoing across the wonderful ‘vista’.
