Journeymen - featuring two pieces, String Quartet No.1 (Robben Island) and A Walk Into War for tenor and piano quintet.
String Quartet No.1, premiered in 2000, and recorded by the Allegri Quartet, was inspired by a visit to Robben Island in South Africa, where Nelson Mandela spent the majority of his time in captivity.
A Walk Into War, recorded by the Allegri Quartet, Daniel Tong (piano), and Paul Agnew (tenor), is based on two works by the writer Laurie Lee, As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning and A Moment of War.
